INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
“CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND SIGN LANGUAGE RIGHTS”
The workshop took place on November 1st at the Green One United Nations House in Hanoi. It was attended by representatives from various government agencies, UNDP in Vietnam, the World Federation of the Deaf, the Vietnam Federation on Disability, the Mobilization Board of the Vietnam Deaf Association, organizations of persons with disabilities, and Deaf Clubs from different provinces and cities across the country.
The workshop provided an opportunity to introduce the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Sign language rights. It shared the context and needs of the Deaf community with government agencies and organizations working in the field of disability. The aim was to call on the Deaf community and relevant parties to collaborate in advocating for policies that promote a society where Deaf individuals can fully access sign language.
The workshop was organized by PARD Vietnam with support from the UNDP in Vietnam, the World Federation of the Deaf, and the Nippon Foundation.
